Patriots 23 Chargers 20

I went to the Patriots game in San Diego yesterday. We hit the road super early and tailgated with Sam Adams Octoberfest, sweet Italian sausages with garlic grilled peppers and onions and bacon cheese burgers. We won tailgating. Then we won the game.

2. Started Jay Cutler on one of my fantasy football teams. (For those of you who don't follow football, Cutler didn't play today due to injury. This was very bad for my fantasy team.)

6. Used my panini press. Twice.
7. Watered the plants.
8. Read the Sunday paper.
9. Sat on my balcony and drank a Sam Adams Octoberfest.
10. Fed a friend's cats.

Sunset Junction

On Saturday, I went to Sunset Junction for the first time. I had a great time and found out that Sunset Junction's function is being awesome. I saw Big Daddy Kane, Fishbone, Bad Brains and Ghostland Observatory. Here are some pictures.

Big Daddy Kane performed with Connie Price & The Keystones and the absolutely destroyed it. It was my favorite act of the day.

Goodfellas & Mean Streets

Today I saw Goodfellas & Mean Streets at the New Beverly Cinema. Seeing those movies in a theater was awesome but this was extra awesome because Nicholas Pileggi and Paul Sorvino did a Q&A before Goodfellas. Their stories about working with Scorsese, Deniro and Liotta were priceless. They talked about everything Goodfellas including how Pileggi & Scorsese connected to make the film, adapting Wiseguy into Goodfellas, casting real life wiseguys, improving on the set, Scorsese's planning the soundtrack, the dinner in prison scene, how Sorvino prepped for the role, Sorvino's thoughts on acting and so much more. If you're a fan of Goodfellas and haven't read Wiseguy, I highly recommend it. Also, if you haven't seen Mean Streets, I recommend that as well.

Sorvino said a great line about Italian cooks: "If you tell an Italian restauranteur, 'Give me a bad meal or I'll blow your brains out,' the cook says, "Pull the trigger, I can't help you." 

"One day some of the kids from the neighborhood carried my mother's groceries all the way home. You know why? It was outta respect."

Enjoy pineapples? Then you need this. This is how to cut a pineapple. I understand sometimes you want to quarter a pineapple and serve it with the skin as a serving platter under the slices but every other time you cut a pineapple, use this slicer. It cuts through the pineapple with such ease and lack of difficulty. It's amazing. Added bonus: you can use the cored pineapple as a drink glass or a fruit bowl.
